What are the Launch Den Mother and Launch Puppy? The Launch Den Mother and Launch Puppy are a pair of Mac applications designed to assist in starting up parallel executables compiled with the MacMPI.f library. The idea is to provide a Macintosh user interface for distributing and initiating the parallel code on a group of Macintoshes. They are named the Launch Den Mother, which provides a user interface and coordinates the distribution of data, and the Launch Puppy, which acts out commands from the Den Mother. Before the Den Mother and Puppies, we had to write out all the nodelist files and distribute and launch the executables in the proper order by hand, one at a time. These applications were designed to make using MacMPI much easier and more automatic. Requirements: Power Macintoshes connected using an AppleTalk
network (100BaseT, 10BaseT, ARA, LocalTalk, etc.) running Mac OS 8 or later
and MacMPI.
